Recreation Officer - Part Time - Brightwater Home

Mō mātou - About us

Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island. Our Enliven residential services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability. Our homes and villages are places where older people have companionship, choice, variety, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose.

Brightwater Home offers a welcoming environment with compassionate care, modern facilities, and strong community connections. Set in established grounds off Brightwater Terrace, Brightwater Home provides personalised, elder-directed care with a welcoming community feel.

Together we make a lasting difference.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a new Recreational Officer to join us to support our regular activity programmes and special events.

As a Recreation Officer, you will work as part of our team to plan and facilitate individual recreation plans for our Elders, as well as deliver the day-to-day recreation programmes. This involves running daily activities with our team, which includes planning the social calendar for the day service and supporting our Elders to pursue their interests. You will encourage Elders to maintain their independence and maintain connections with their community.

This is a 37.5 hour per week role working Sunday to Thursday each week. The key aspects of the role involve the delivery of a day programme that responds to individual Elders needs, maintains brain health and provides a rich and diverse experience.

Mō koe - About You

You will have experience working with Elders and be passionate about the wellbeing of older people. You will be enthusiastic but patient; well-organised, with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience in a Recreation or Diversional Therapy role, or similar background
  • A minimum Level 3 NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or Diversional Therapy Qualification
  • Understanding of person-centered care and meeting individual support needs
  • Ability to listen to people and work collaboratively within a team
  • Full, clean New Zealand driver’s license

Mahi mo tatou - Working for us

Enliven offers a working environment where upskilling and training are highly valued. You will also enjoy:

  • Hourly rate from $25.71 to $32.03, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Progressive pay steps that recognise qualifications
  • On-going training and development in a supportive environment
  • Access to discounted healthcare cover and free employee assistance programmes
  • We also offer discounts and promotions with major NZ retailers across the country
  • A workplace that values diversity and honours Māori as Tangata Whenua

As a values-based organisation that cares about our staff as much as we do about our Elders, we support everyone who becomes a part of the Enliven family.
