About us

Our Enliven residential services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability. Our homes and villages are places where older people have companionship, choice, variety, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose.  Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island.

About the role

As a Recreation Officer, you will plan and facilitate individual recreation plans for residents, as well as the recreation programme for Huntleigh Home. This involves running daily activities with staff and volunteers, planning the social calendar for the home and supporting our residents to pursue their interests. You will encourage residents to maintain their independence, learn new skills and maintain connections with their community.

Hours: 11:00am to 5:30pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Huntleigh Home in Karori. Friday and Saturday are essential however a different day may be negotiated in place of the Thursday for the right applicant.

About You

Passionate about the wellbeing of older people, you are enthusiastic but patient; well-organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour. You share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.

We are looking for:

  • A genuine interest in supporting the Recreational activities in our Home
  • Minimum of Careerforce Level 2 Health and Wellbeing Certificate
  • A qualification in Diversional Therapy would be great but we will consider someone with equivalent experience
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, ability to listen to people and work with them to support their needs
  • Experience in administration with some computer literacy
  • Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Some experience working with elders would be advantageous

What’s in it for me?

Enliven offers a compassionate environment where upskilling and training are highly valued. We support our staff in gaining nationally recognised qualifications through paid study days and workshops.

You will also enjoy:

  • Hourly rate from $24.08 to $30.00 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Free flu vaccinations as part of the Enliven wellbeing programme
  • Certainty in your hours – set roster with opportunities to be flexible where needed
  • Progressive pay steps that recognise your qualifications
  • Access to discounted healthcare cover and free employee assistance programme
  • We also have discounts with major NZ retailers across the country
