Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island.  Our Enliven residential services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability. Our homes and villages are places where older people have companionship, choice, variety, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose.  

We are looking for a weekend laundry worker who understands the importance of delivering quality customer focused services to our residents.  Our laundry and housekeeping team play an integral part in ensuring that our Homes are a warm, inviting and pleasant environment to live and work. 

Mō te tūranga  - About the role

As a Laundry worker you will be responsible for a variety of routine laundry duties, including maintaining documents related to residents' laundering and distributing clothing and linen.  You will also have:

  • Previous experience in laundry practices in a residential, hospital or hospitality setting
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial cleaning processes, but we can help you learn about this
  • Take instruction and delegation from the Senior Housekeeper regarding priorities and routines 
  • Conduct Laundry tasks and routines in an effective and timely manner
  • You will be operating a variety of commercial laundry machines and equipment whilst undertaking a range of laundry procedures such as washing, drying, ironing, folding and delivering residents clothing. 
  • Work independently but also be part of a team. 

Mō koe - About You 

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. Previous experience of working in a rest home or hospital environment is a plus, but it's not essential, as we can help you learn what you need to know. 

In addition, you will ideally have: 

  • A level 2 qualification NZ Certificate in Laundry Processing or willingness to gain one
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial cleaning programes and infection control. 
  • Respect for the diverse cultural heritage of others, including colleagues, our residents and their families/whanau. 
  • Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines and attend to multiple tasks & priorities
  • An understanding that you are providing a service for our Elders and are working in their Home
  • Commitment to teamwork, and use of initiative when required
  • Commitment to health and safety practices and good hygiene practices
