Mō te tūranga  - About the role  

As a Kitchen hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious means for lunch and dinner.  Confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following: 

  • Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily meals
  • Clear tables when all residents have finished eating 
  • Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature  
  • Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks  
  • Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols 
  • Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately
  • Transport food/equipment between sites that are in close proximity to each other.
  • Due to the nature of the role, candidate must be able to work with residents experiencing memory loss, adapting to their needs.

Mō koe - About You 

You will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and a sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will ideally have: 

  • Experience working in a kitchen (preferred) 
  • Good communication skills and have a person-centered approach
  • High standards of personal hygiene and appearance 
  • A clean driver licence and would be confident driving a manual van
  • Availability to work Monday to Sunday
  • Able to transport heavy items with safe handling training
  • If you hold a food safety/hygiene certificate, that would be great but if you don't have one we can train you in what you need to know
